Tender description

Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is currently developing their Full Business Case to proceed with their 79 400 000 GBP construction project at Musgrove Park hospital, the Phase 2 Surgical Centre. The Surgical Centre will mean the relocation of General Theatres and ICU from the 1940’s old building and creating a state of the art Endoscopy department and Gynae oncology outpatients department. The Surgical Centre is designed with 4 floors, 3 are clinical and 1 is plant. The ground floor will accommodate an endoscopy department with 6 procedure rooms and the GRACE centre (Gynae oncology outpatient) with 4 procedure rooms. The first floor will accommodate the Surgical Admission Lounge, 8 operating theatres and associated recovery beds. The second floor will accommodate a 22 bedded ICU. The construction process will start early next year with an anticipated opening of the building early 2024. Musgrove Park performs a range of surgical specialities including Upper GI, Colorectal, Vascular, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Breast, Orthopaedic and Spinal. The surgical teams wish to build an informed set of requirements for integrated theatres, to do this we would like to invite vendors to the hospital. The trust would appreciate a 20 minute presentation from each vendor on the capabilities, benefits and future proofing integration can provide. An additional 10 minutes will be provided for any questions. We are particularly interested in the AV solution; links to PACS, EPR, data storage and the ability to link to other parts of the hospital for presenting and teaching. Hardware requirements, service package, warranty and maintenance and training packages are also important aspects we wish to consider. We are looking to hold this engagement session on the 19th of November during the morning. This is purely a market engagement exercise so we can further understand what is available out there to help us to build a specification. We have limited time available due to the availability of clinicians so we will only be able to offer 6 slots to suppliers. Therefore, depending on the volume of suppliers who express interest in this event we may not be able to invite all. Again, this is not a competitive exercise so any suppliers not invited will still have the opportunity to bid. If you are interested in attending this engagement session on the 19th of November please email hayley.draper@tst.nhs.uk
