KCC’s successful bid to the Local Growth Fund allows it deliver on a number of schemes identified in the Local Transport Plan 4: Delivering Growth without Gridlock 2016 – 2031 The Maidstone Integrated Transport Package are a collection of improvement schemes designed to relieve crucial infrastructure pinch points within the town and its surrounding area. The increased traffic volume forecast over the coming years requires significant capacity improvements to be undertaken and this phase of works is designed to advance a number of those already struggling with congestion. By having a programme looking at such a spread of junctions across the town we aim to deliver these improvements synchronously while keeping the impact of the actual construction to a minimum. The key aim of the consultative process is to inform the general travelling public, residents and businesses and particularly those who will be mostly affected by the schemes, about the proposals and provide them with the opportunity to comment and help finalise the scheme designs. Consultees will be invited to submit their views on the proposals via a questionnaire available online via Kent.gov.uk and in hard copy. The hard copies will be available from local public buildings (Libraries and County Hall). We are also planning three public exhibition events, where in addition to the consultation questionnaire attendees will be able to fill in comment cards. The consultation is scheduled to launch on Thursday 8 November and run for six weeks until Thursday 19 December 2019.
