South Gloucestershire Visual Impairment Service

Tender description

The service will be provided to all adults living in South Gloucestershire, who are over the age of 18 years and are registered as Sight Impaired or Severely Sight Impaired, as well as people who are eligible for registration and have significant sight loss, which affects their health, wellbeing and capacity, to undertake tasks to live independently. The service will provide support and advice for people (both individuals and their carers) which is of high quality, effective and efficient, to: 1. Promote individual and carer independence 2. Provide training and development for: independent living skills, orientation and mobility skills and communication skills 3. Demonstrate and where appropriate, provide aids and equipment 4. Provide information and advice on services and benefits that are provided by statutory and voluntary organisations 5. Deliver visual awareness training for carers (including paid carers) 6. Provide peer support opportunities which enable people to talk about their experiences of living with sight loss 7. Co-chair and facilitate the Low Vision Services Committee.
