Defence Equipment and Support is responsible for procuring and supporting the equipment and services for the UK’s Armed Forces. The DE&S Future Capabilities Group (FCG) (Formerly Technology Office) improves delivery of Military capability through innovation and exploitation of technology. The FCG seeks to understand industry readiness and capability to provide Military /Commercial Off the Shelf (MOTS/COTS) and near off the shelf Man Overboard (MOB) Detection System. The response to this request will be used for information purposes only to scope the potential multi-year MINERVA programme. The DE&S Future Capabilities Group (FCG) seeks to understand industry readiness and capability to provide Military /Commercial Off the Shelf and near off the shelf Man Overboard (MOB) Detection System. The response to this request will be used for information purposes only to scope the potential multi-year MINERVA programme. The MINERVA programme would explore the technical opportunities for the use of a large quadcopter based GFX UAS as a method of deploying a life raft to an individual who has fallen overboard. The system would launch automatically, search for the MOB, find the individual, deploy the life raft upwind of the individual and then stay on station to assist with location marking until the MOB recovery can take place. Once the recovery has taken place the UAS is to automatically return and land on the mother ship. This PIN is interested in information pertaining to the MOB Vision Detection System.
