Pier construction work

Tender description

The council awarded a contract for Phase 1 of the Anchor Bay works (including inspection and re-measurement) in October 2018 following an open non-EU tender and following the evaluation of eight tender submissions.The Council intend to extend the contract to repair and refurbish a further 4-8 Anchor Bays as the initial phase has revealed a state of steel deterioration significantly more advanced than previous surveying determined and presenting a substantially higher of risk to property and persons should the pier remain in its present state and continuous use. Works are planned to include, where deemed necessary, the replacement of transverse deck beams, longitudinal beams, pile caps, bracing, rails and associated connections, clamps etc. in order to reinstate the designed structural performance of the pier with modern loading conditions. The council placed an open opportunity advert in Contracts Finder on 28.2.2018 for Anchor Bay works (including inspection and re-measurement) and an award notice in Contracts Finder on 12.10.2018 following the evaluation of eight tender submissions.
