HIV Testing in the community November 2019 to World Aids Day 2019

Tender description

The Council invites quotations for the provision of rapid HIV POCT in Croydon between 16th November 2019 to 1st December 2019 at various locations in the Croydon Borough. HIV testing has been shown to be an important element in HIV prevention and in particular, targeted HIV testing in a wide range of settings. Testing for HIV has also been shown to be cost-effective and provides a positive return on investment. One method for testing, known as ‘Point of Care Testing’ (POCT) is particularly appropriate for testing in community settings; evidence suggests it has high acceptability among the public. We are asking providers to provide discrete rapid HIV testing to Croydon based adults at venues across the borough. Venues provided by the London Borough of Croydon. The main outcomes are to: • Increased number of people who have been tested for HIV in Croydon, particularly from the MSM community and Black African community and those who have not tested before. • Increased number of people who know their HIV status. • Increased public awareness and acceptability for HIV testing.
