Development of A new Framework of Green Infrastructure Standards for England St

The aims of this project are to support delivery of Stage 2 of the Green Infrastructure (GI) Standards Project, which in Stage 1 has developed a draft National Framework of GI Standards and Guidance. The National Planning Policy Framework defines Green Infrastructure (GI) as: A network of multi-functional green space, urban and rural, which is capable of delivering a wide range of environmental and quality of life benefits for local communities’.(National Planning Policy Framework). Natural England is leading delivery of a commitment in the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan (25YEP) to ‘Draw up a national framework of green infrastructure standards, ensuring that new developments include accessible green spaces and that any area with little or no green space can be improved for the benefit of the community.’ The scope of this work includes testing a draft National Framework of GI Standards and Guidance and refining them; reviewing existing GI Standards and designing benchmarks; and the development of a media strategy and communications materials for the launch.
