Tender description

The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) underwater electronic warfare (UEW) delivery team (DT) is considering the procurement of Divers’ Handheld Sonar (HHS) Devices for use by Royal Navy (RN) Divers in order to improve their underwater search capability. Multiple specifications of device are being considered for use across a range of diving roles and circumstances. HHS devices are systems designed to be held and operated by an individual diver. They should be able to provide navigational information and indicate the geospatial positions of underwater objects of interest, to facilitate the divers in more safely and efficiently carrying out their operations. The UEW DT is considering the procurement of a range of specifications of HHS to support different diving roles and operations. The contract would be expected to cover provision of the systems and in-service support, including spares availability, over a period of 2 years. The expected contract award date is 2020. Please note this date may be subject to change. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) has been issued in order to better understand the market, the authority is inviting interested parties to provide details on their capabilities in this field. This PIN is not a means to seek formal expressions of interest; that opportunity may become available in the future through a contract notice published on Defence Contracts Online and the Official Journal of the European Union.
