Market engagement to develop options for investment by West Sussex Councils into Digital Infrastructure on a commercial basis. WS Councils (WSC) (including districts and boroughs) share an ambition to put the county on the map as a key location for digital investment, innovation and expansion. WSC's are reviewing their role in relation to investment in digital infrastructure across the county region and wish to investigate how investment from the WSC's, along with industry and financial partners, would obtain a return on investment if a) the county is future ready (e.g. for technology developments such as Internet of Things (IoT)), and b) access to backhaul is made available via an open access network. The objective is to expand the availability of gigabit-capable infrastructure in areas between Chichester and Horsham, although there may be opportunities to extend beyond these areas, to enable suppliers to provide gigabit capable services (including where there is no or slow existing broadband provision). This PIN is for market pre-engagement only and is not a call for competition. WSC's are keen to engage with the market to assess appetite for investment.
