Tender description

The Research and evidence division (RED) within DFID leads on the generation of new evidence through research and evaluation in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of development interventions aimed at eliminating poverty and reducing vulnerability. One of RED’s areas of work is supporting the capacity building of Southern research organisations and systems, enabling the development of nationally owned research agendas. DFID is seeking an experienced and dynamic fund manager, which will be responsible for identifying research capacity-strengthening priorities in each of the seven African countries; procure appropriate suppliers to deliver research capacity-strengthening projects and manage the overall SRIA portfolio. Research capacity-strengthening projects funded through SRIA will target the institutions that regulate and shape research in country. The overall budget made available for this component of SRIA is 12 300 000 GBP (inclusive of VAT and all applicable government taxes). This includes: (i) grant funding for the projects to be commissioned by the successful Supplier and (ii) fund management fees.
