Tender description
The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Underwater electronic warfare (UEW) Delivery team (DT) is considering a full technical refresh and modernisation of the Magazine Torpedo Launch System (MTLS) control system in 8 x T23 frigates (including the production of manufacture data packs and an update to test and training facilities and guidance) with the option of completing the technical refresh for a further 5 ships (potential 13 ships in total), to resolve obsolescence. MTLS is a ship-borne anti-submarine torpedo launching system which deploys Sting Ray torpedo against sub-surface threats. It is expected that the update should deliver at least the same capability as the currently fitted MTLS and should operate within current ship definition. The UEW DT is also considering the in-service support, including spares availability, for the newly acquired technical refreshed MTLS control system for 5 years, with the option of extending for up to a further 2 years. The support package should also include the support for Seagnat and Air Weapons Handling Equipment. The expected contract award date is June 2021. Please note this date may be subject to change. The total value of the contract is expected to range from 7 000 000 GBP-15 000 000 GBP.
