CNC lathe

Tender description

The Air Commodities Team (ACT) within DE&S intends to purchase, on a one-off basis quantity 10 (ten) replacement CNC ALPHA lathes (models: 1400XS — TURRET, 1460XS — PARAT and 1400XS — PARAT) for use within aviation workshops located at various RAF locations. This procurement is to replace existing Lathes, on a like for like basis due to the existing machines reaching their out of service dates (OSDs) and no longer being able to meet the requirements of ACT. ACT justifies using negotiated procedure without prior publication in accordance with Regulation 32(5)(b) of the Public Contracting Regulations 2015. ACT is required to maintain the Lathe capability across MoD establishments and has a requirement to replace a number of machines. Therefore, as a contract already exists with Colchester for Lathes it is considered appropriate to purchase these additional lathes under this contract.
