Tender description

Merseyrail Electrics 2002 Ltd (Merseyrail) are looking into potential solutions for resource management rostering for all staff including shift working staff at both stations and also train crew. We would like to start discussions with suppliers based on responses to an engagement questionnaire which will be sent to interested suppliers (details in Section II.2.4)). While we are aware of systems which roster train crew we are looking at the market to understand capabilities to combine this with station staffing resource management. Merseyrail is an urban commuter train operating network of vital importance to the transport infrastructure of Liverpool and its environs, operating on the Wirral and Northern lines within Merseyside. It is 1 of the most punctual and reliable railway networks in the UK, with consistently high scores for customer satisfaction, currently employing over 1 000 staff members. Merseyrail are currently reviewing their resource management software and are seeking to understand potential capabilities in the market to help shape a specification, direction and procurement strategy. Therefore this PIN is being issued to understand the capability and interest in the market prior to submitting a formal tender. Merseyrail are seeking to either licence a system which can provide certain functionalities or work with a supplier to develop a system. We would like to understand whether any suppliers have a system in place which currently provides all the requirements. If not we would like to understand if there are any systems which can be adapted to provide the functionality we are looking for. Failing this we would then like to understand if there are suppliers who can develop a system to fulfil the desired functionality. In addition, we would like to understand our potential cost exposure. We’re not looking for fully accurate pricing at this stage but we would appreciate an ball park estimate based on what your company is able to provide.
