The expert services of a suitably qualified organisation(s) or collaboration of organisations from the public, private, or community & voluntary sector are required to develop a programme to enable participants to experience a shared extra curricular reading programme which acts as a catalyst for meaningful conversations targeting students and youth groups from different religious faiths and ethnic backgrounds. 250 participants will engage with peer groups from differing religious and ethnic backgrounds to discuss topics affecting their communities thus creating an increased level of understanding and awareness of cross community issues. The project aims to create a shared resource for safe conversation space, with activity taking place in County libraries. The Reading Rooms project will recruit 250 cross community participants aged 10-18 into a high impact shared reading programme. Groups of 12 participants will meet weekly, using high quality, locally relevant and thematically targeted literature, read aloud by a trained, volunteer practitioner selected to meet the needs of the group. The project should promote dialogue & reflection and topics will include diversity, racism, conflict, bullying, cyber safety, ageism, sexism, etc.
