1-574 Power Generation from Structures - Stage 2 - Develop (Trial)

Tender description

Highways England aim to deploy renewable energy source technologies (e.g. wind, solar) on structures across the SRN to power the technology with no or reduced reliance on Distribution Network Operator (DNO) supplies. The overall task is broken down into five stages, as outlined below. This task takes the outcome of the Options Report in Stage 1 and implements the procurement strategy and trial design developed in Stage 2 Phase 1: Stage 1. Discover - understand the technology solutions available and relevant to the needs of Highways England. Produce an Options Report. Stage 2. Develop - develop a modular solutions model for the various structures deployed on the network or test site for prototype testing. (Note: this is broken into two phases to provide an investment decision point between preparing a trial design and delivering the trial). Stage 3. Demonstrate - deploy a trial system operating at sample sites and undertake performance measurement over a 12-month period across 2 pilot schemes and present findings for consideration. Stage 4. Deliver - undertake full product approval trials/documentation and acceptance testing. Stage 5. Deploy on new and retrofit schemes.
