Weekly Youth Groups and Holiday Activity Short Breaks Sessions for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Aged 8-25 Years

The local authority must provide, as appropriate, a range of educational or leisure activities for disabled children outside their homes, and services available to assist carers in the evenings, at weekends and during the school holidays. The services described above as educational or leisure activities to be provided for disabled children outside their home, is not a service that can be met via current in house resources due to the lack of capacity of appropriately trained staff to deliver the service level required. Therefore an external provider is required to act on behalf of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure compliance with our statutory duty by providing weekly leisure and social activity sessions across the East Riding of Yorkshire, for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, in the form of a youth group and Holiday activities. The service will provide short breaks for children and young people with disabilities, and additional needs, by providing them with social and leisure opportunities with their peer group within a safe environment. With appropriate support, this will enable them to enjoy and achieve, develop skills to fulfil their potential and remain safe and healthy. Keywords: short breaks, youth groups, SEND, Disability
