Carriageway resurfacing works

Tender description

The term contract is primarily to be used by the place, growth and prosperity directorate to undertake individual schemes including works on and off the highway, carriageway and footway resurfacing, along with highway structural reconstruction and drainage .The work to be executed under this contract is spread over a number of sites within the City, each site providing a separate task order. There is no guarantee that the works to be carried out over the contract period will be continuous or evenly distributed throughout the contract, or that work will be instructed against each and every item. The total quantity of work the contractor will be required to undertake is dependent on the forthcoming financial allocations during the period of the contract. The types of work anticipated are indicated below but no guarantee will be given that work will be carried out on any particular aspect of the service during this contract. Works will include construction or improvement works, on or off highway, minor drainage works and some minor soft and hard landscaping generally ranging from about 3 000 GBP to 800 000 GBP in value. Some of the individual task orders will be notifiable under the CDM regulations. The type of works anticipated may include: schemes: — carriageway resurfacing and reconstruction works, — footway resurfacing, reconstruction, paving and kerbing works, — patching and reinstatement works in both carriageways and footways, — works to facilitate the installation of pelican crossings, — works to facilitate the installation of traffic signals, — road/junction improvements, — undertaking trial holes, — construction of car parks/lay-bys, — traffic calming schemes, — testing of materials, — strategic routes such as bus lane and cycle routes.
