Tender description

Havering Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced and qualified providers to provide Best interest assessments (BIA) in line with national and local standards. The aim of the service is to provide high quality and timely BIA assessments; working collaboratively with the Council’s Adults Safeguarding team, trained doctors and independent advocates where necessary. This service will be demand led, and therefore assessments will only need to be carried out when there is a requirement. All Best Interest Assessors will have the relevant BIA qualification in addition to significant knowledge and experience of the Mental Capacity Act and relevant legislations, working knowledge and evidence of up to date training in safeguarding, and be a qualified social worker, nurse or occupational therapist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). It is expected that the quality of assessments will be to a consistent high standard and delivered within the timescales agreed. It is also expected that providers can demonstrate to the Council their readiness to meet the requirements of the incoming liberty protection safeguards and other relevant legislation. The provider will be expected to meet national and local requirements as they are developed over the lifetime of the contract.
