Tender description

The aseptic service provider will be required to prepare and deliver the drugs to the trust, within a sterile environment by microbiologists, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who make up the bespoke patient doses from base drugs. The supplier will be expected to provide the service from a fully staffed MHRA compliant manufacturing facility, within 5km of the OX3 9DU postcode. OUH is currently exploring two options regarding the supply of the uncompounded drugs needed for the manufacturing process. It may purchase the drugs directly, that will be ‘handled’ by the supplier, or it may instruct the supplier to purchase them on the Trusts behalf, to then be rebated on a monthly basis, to deliver the compound service. The supplier will then be required to manufacture named patient supply and batch supplies of Parenteral Nutrition, Biologicals and Chemotherapy, Essentially, the supplier will receive raw materials (un-compounded drugs) and process them into tangible products as per the Trusts requirements, with the current levels detailed below: This will be for Adults, Paediatric and Neonatal patients. Current annual volume of work is: • 3471 Adult standard TPN bags • 517 Adult standard TPN bags with tailored additions • 2060 Adult bespoke TPN bags • 750 Paediatric TPN Bags as a mixture of batches of standard formulations and tailor made bags named for pts. • 4584 Neonatal TPN bags as a mixture of standard bags of the shelf, batches of standard formulations and tailored bags named for pts. • 30,602 Named patient Cancer Chemotherapeutic doses • 4,144 Named patient Mono-clonal antibodies • 1,788 Named patient biological The total contract costs, based on current spend, for a 5 years +1+1+1 contract would be circa £100,000,000. This is split as a £12,000,000 service fee [currently £1.5m/pa] for the manufacturing and delivery of the named patient supply and batch supplies of Parenteral Nutrition, Biologicals and Chemotherapy and the associated services and £88,000,000 relating to the purchase of the non-compounded drugs and associated services [currently £11m/pa]). If the Trust decides to purchase the uncompounded drugs/raw materials itself, then the contract shall be for a value of circa £12,000,000. The start date of the contract would be 1st January 2021. The contract end date would be 31st December 2028 (dependant on all extensions being taken) Keywords: aseptic
