Tender description

Jisc intends to enter into an agreement with Ciena communications Inc. to provide optical equipment and professional services. Ciena communications Inc. currently provides the optical equipment on the Janet Network. The original contract was established via an OJEU competitive dialogue procedure and was awarded on the basis that the offer was the most economically advantageous tender following a competitive procurement process. There would be considerable cost and disruption to Jisc if it were to replace the optical platform on a fibre infrastructure that is live, therefore Jisc intends to enter into an agreement with Ciena communications Inc. for up to a maximum of 9 years to provide optical equipment and professional services to preserve a consistent network architecture and continue to deliver the required services to our Members.
