Structured Cabling Services

Tender description

The University is seeking a contractor to provide structured cabling services. UCC runs and manages a large campus network that includes a number of remote sites. There are approximately 160-180 different comms rooms or wiring closets across the campus. Buildings are located at the main campus but also extend locally to Western Gateway Building, Brookfield, and multiple buildings and houses located along College Road, Donovan’s Road, Western Road and the environs. The university also has a number of remote buildings including, but not limited to, ERI on Lee Road, Mardyke Arena, Beaufort in Ringaskiddy, Lapps Quay, South Mall, School of Architecture & Nano Nagle Place, Lancaster Hall, and Shearton Court, as well as office space within Cork University Hospital/Dental Hospital. All remote buildings off campus are connected by fibre. There are a few instances where wireless links are used. Buildings within campus are connected via single mode UCC fibre. Within buildings CAT6A F/FTP Ethernet is the predominant structured cable type (with some legacy CAT5 but limited). UCC also has an extensive wireless network based deployed across all UCC buildings.
