Tender description

NHS Wales intends to procure a Laboratory information management system (LIMS) service as part of the modernisation of pathology services across Wales. Key features of the service include: — a hosted, managed Service including a national LIMS and associated software for use by NHS Pathology services across Wales (currently 20 sites) with 99,99 % availability, — the associated software will include document scanning, dictation and voice recognition, business intelligence, vein-to-vein blood tracking and NPEx, — a master services agreement contract with local deployment orders each for a period of 10 years with options to extend on an annual basis up to a maximum contract term of 14 years, — the LIMS shall be a national application integrated with Wales national technical architecture and other national pathology applications and to local equipment and systems to provide a seamless service from requesting to reporting results, — the contractor shall be responsible for the development of the service with full configuration, testing, data migration, validation and deployment of the service on all agreed sites to the required standards and agreed implementation timescale. The contract will also the contract will provide training and training materials, — the contractor shall deliver the required data and information for operational, management, strategic and research purposes with appropriate tools for dashboards and business intelligence, — disciplines included in the scope comprise: —— national screening services, including cervical cytology, antenatal screening and newborn blood spot, —— andrology, —— blood sciences, including blood transfusion (with vein to vein blood tracking for blood and blood components), clinical biochemistry (including toxicology), haematology and immunology, —— cellular pathology including diagnostic cytology, histopathology and mortuary services, —— microbiology, including bacteriology, food, water and environmental microbiology, infection genomics, mycology, parasitology and virology and specialist reference units for example cryptosporidium reference unit and anaerobic reference units.
