Tender description

The older peoples preventative service will comprise of 4 services. These will be set out individually in this specification. The 4 services are listed in the table below: 1) Support service at the Allan Burgess Centre; 2) Older peoples befriending service; 3) Information and advice support service for older people; 4) Early stage dementia support service for people with Dementia and their carers. The 4 services are listed in the table below: 1) Support Service at the Allan Burgess Centre; 2) Older Peoples Befriending Service; 3) Information and Advice Support Service for Older People; 4) Early Stage Dementia Support Service for People with Dementia and their Carers; 1) Support Service at the Allan Burgess Centre: The service shall comprise of support, information and advice, exercise, social, learning and recreational activities, and refreshments and meals for older people. The service will promote the health, well-being, independence and quality of life of older people living in the London Borough of Redbridge. 2) Older peoples befriending service: The service shall provide one to one companionship and support for older people living in the community who have become socially isolated. By means of regular telephone calls or home visits, service users shall receive social and emotional support to safely maintain their well-being and independence across the Borough. The service shall also monitor the general welfare of service users and offer assistance as required to enable them to explore and access other forms of support. 3) Information and advice support service: The aims and objectives of the service in line with the national and local strategies set out above are to: — provide accessible information and advice to older people setting out the availability of appropriate services and entitlements, that promotes their health and well-being, independence and quality of life, — promote the Service to encourage its take up from a broad spectrum of the community reflecting the cohort of older people in Redbridge, — promote cohesiveness and equality by improving access to all local communities, including those who are under-represented in mainstream and preventative service provision. 4) Early stage dementia support service: People with early stages of dementia need a mix of support from carers and early intervention service providers to remain healthy and live independently. It is therefore important that the services to people with early stages of dementia are provided in a holistic manner.
