Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council (MTCBC) has appointed a design-led team to produce a visionary and exemplary strategic masterplan for the development of the cultural, industrial heritage and landscape assets of the Cyfarthfa Estate and other heritage assets in Merthyr Tydfil. Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council (MTCBC) has appointed a design-led team to produce a visionary and exemplary strategic masterplan for the development of the cultural, industrial heritage and landscape assets of the Cyfarthfa Estate and other heritage assets in Merthyr Tydfil. This creative, multi-layered masterplan, The Cyfarthfa Plan, will build on the vision and strands arising from the Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Heritage Design Charrette held at Cyfarthfa Castle in October 2017 and which are set out in Crucible: Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Heritage Design Charrette Report. The Cyfarthfa Plan will create a masterplan which galvanises and makes coherent the four strands to emerge from the Charrette: 1) A cathedral for our industrial heritage; 2) Weaving a connected landscape; 3) Beyond Cyfarthfa – Beyond Merthyr; 4) A year-round masterplan for events.
