Tender description
The Environment Agency is committed to managing our environmental impacts including waste by reducing and managing them using the best practical environmental option. This framework will cover the collection, disposal and recycling of a variety of operations derived waste streams generated from sites across the North, Midlands, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire areas of England. This framework will cover the collection, disposal and recycling of a variety of waste streams, generated by operational Environment Agency sites situated in the areas set out in II.2.3), to manage waste resulting from asset maintenance, flood management and construction site activities. A range of skip styles and sizes are required to suit individual locations and the waste types generated. The following waste types are likely to be covered by this framework: — scrap metal, — batteries (hazardous and non-hazardous, including heavy duty lead acid batteries), — hazardous waste (e.g. fluorescent tubes, oily waste), — waste oil, — used oil sorbents and contaminated PPE, — Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), — wood — both non-hazardous and hazardous, — tree trunks (potentially contaminated), — green waste (potentially contaminated), — mixed general waste, — plastic, — tyres, — soil and clay, — silt and sediments from small works, — river gravel and stone, — concrete and building materials, — shopping trolleys, bicycles and beer kegs, — mixed fly tipped waste. The successful contractor will be required to provide a 24/7 365 emergency service for a limited number of strategic operational sites throughout the geographic areas stated, the locations of which will be confirmed in the tender pack. Additionally, the contractor will be required to provide a response to pollution incidents where the fly-tipping of potentially hazardous waste has occurred which shall include waste sampling, analysis and disposal services.
