Tender description

The Kent County Council (KCC) wishes to engage with the market regarding the provision of temporary waste transfer services, including the reception, bulking and haulage of household waste collected by Folkestone and Hythe District Council (FHDC). The service would need to be ready to go live within the next 6-12 months and continue for a period of up to 4 years. The Waste Transfer Station (WTS) must be fully permitted and have the capacity to transfer approximately 32 000 tonnes per annum over a number of different waste streams which require segregation and onward haulage to end destinations. The WTS must be conveniently located in order to reduce the negative impact to the environment and public health caused by haulage of waste over unnecessarily long distances. The WTS must therefore be situated within, or within a reasonable distance from (i.e. no more than 25 minutes drive away for fully laden Refuse Collection Vehicles taking the most appropriate route), the boundary of the area of FHDC. KCC would like to take the opportunity to invite suitably qualified waste management organisations to supply details of the works and services they could provide to meet this requirement.
