Tender description
University Station currently serves University of Birmingham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, serving c. 3 500 000 passengers per annum. University of Birmingham will play a key role in the Commonwealth Games which are due to be held in Birmingham in 2022. Outline design works are being undertaken to provide a station that can accommodate the increased passenger demand and provide a facility that is in keeping with the University of Birmingham’s development vision. The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is seeking to procure a design and build contract (GRIP 5-8), via a Competitive procedure with negotiation (CPN) with the option to: reduce the number of bidders by down-selection (by applying award criteria) and award on the basis of initial tenders. These options will be applied by the West Midlands Combined Authority as and when appropriate. Please note that the West Midlands Combined Authority reserves the right to amend the above. The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is seeking to procure a Design and Build Contract (GRIP 5 – 8). The scope of works involves the redevelopment and construction of University Station, provide to a Category B station that can accommodate approximately 7 200 000 passengers per year it is a mandatory requirement that contracts hold a principal contractors licence, enabling them to work on network rail assets. The scope of works will include but not be limited to providing the following works/services (in line with RISQS codes); CCTV, CIS, Track Drainage, Cable Route Works, Bridge and Tunnels, Equipment Support Services. Structural Services — Specialist Services (Civils), Piling, Temporary Works, Waterproofing, Demolition Services, Contamination Remediation, Lineside Tree and Scrub Clearance, Infrastructure Fences, Barriers and Boundary Gates. Earthworks, Retaining Walls, Ground Anchors, Soil Nailing, Earthworks Drainage, Stations and Depot Buildings Works. Substructure and Superstructure, Building Work, Building Services, Specialist Services, Shopfiiting, Lifts and Escalators, Operational Walkways and Platforms, Hardstandings and Roadways, OHLE Systems.
