Tender description

Natural England is seeking corporate sponsors to enable it to deliver more for nature and the environment. For example this may be through: — sponsoring an individual or group of National nature reserves (NNRs), — sponsoring a species recovery programme, — funding existing/new conservation projects, — creation and sale of themed food/ drink products with the producer donating a proportion of the profits to NE. Sponsorship must support or further NE’s statutory purpose (as above). Potential sponsors must share Natural England’s ambitions for the conservation and restoration of the natural environment. Regional and national opportunities both large and small are available throughout England. About Natural England: Natural England is the government’s advisor on the natural environment. We provide practical advice, grounded in science, on how best to safeguard England’s natural wealth for the benefit of everyone. Our remit is to ensure sustainable stewardship of the land and sea so that people and nature can thrive. It is our responsibility to see that England’s rich natural environment can adapt and survive intact for future generations to enjoy. Natural England was established as an independent statutory Non-Departmental Public Body by the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act 2006. The NERC Act sets out Natural England's purpose: to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced and managed for the benefit of present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development. The act states that this purpose includes: — promoting nature conservation and protecting biodiversity, — conserving and enhancing the landscape, — securing the provision and improvement of facilities for the study, understanding and enjoyment of the natural environment, — promoting access to the countryside, open spaces and encouraging open air recreation, — contributing in other ways to social and economic well-being through management of the natural environment. The Natural England Action Plan 2019-2020 establishes our role to set the national direction for the environment and to lead action locally. We will do this by combining our statutory purpose and powers with our expertise in environmental law and science and our track record of delivery in partnership with a wide range of people: landowners, businesses, communities, NGOs. We will also continue to diversify our funding base across and beyond Government as part of a long term aim to be less reliant on our core Grant in Aid.
