The purpose of this prior information notice is to notify the market of Belfast City Council’s intention to hold a consultation session with interested parties to help shape and inform the development of an economic development framework agreement. The purpose of this prior information notice is to notify the market of Belfast City Council’s intention to hold a consultation session with interested parties to help shape and inform the development of an economic development framework agreement. This exercise aims to put in place an economic development framework agreement which will support the delivery of the Belfast Agenda goals and specifically those aligned to the working and learning and growing the economy themes. Over the past number of years, the Council has been working with a variety of stakeholders including private sector organisations and employers, to address some of the biggest challenges to economic growth in the city. These challenges include high levels of economic inactivity, low levels of business start-ups and survival, access to suitably qualified labour/talent whilst ensuring the benefits of economic investment and growth are enjoyed by all of Belfast citizens. To address these challenges, the Council, in partnership with key stakeholders, has delivered a variety of programmes aimed at supporting access to employment as well as supporting businesses to start up and grow. These include, but are not limited to: — employment academies, — business start-up programmes, — city youth support programmes, — access to opportunity programmes. The Council therefore seeks to gather information from the market, which will help inform how the framework agreement will be developed and how it will operate. The Council will be holding a consultation session in late September (date TBC).
