Tender description

Basildon Borough Council wishes to appoint an Ofgem licenced supplier of energy for the provision of electricity and natural gas to residential (domestic) customers within the Basildon borough and wider areas. This is envisioned to be achieved through a white-label agreement, in which the Council would partner with a licenced supplier to deliver energy through the use of its own unique brand. Basildon Borough Council is seeking to appoint an Ofgem licenced supplier of energy for the provision of electricity and natural gas to residential (domestic) customers within the Basildon borough and wider areas. This is envisioned to be achieved through a white-label agreement, in which the Council would partner with a licenced supplier to deliver energy through the use of its own unique brand. The intended purpose of this desired partnership is to alleviate levels of localised fuel deprivation in the borough, which effects an estimated 7,8 %, or 5 923 of resident households. Although lower than both the Essex and National averages, fuel poverty still presents a significant issue for residents, particularly the most vulnerable who use pay as you go metering or rarely switch suppliers.
