London Bridge - Waterproofing and Bearing Replacement

Summary of Works The waterproofing and abutment bearings on London Bridge are to be replaced. The bridge is around 8,500 m2, and re-waterproofing will involve stripping the current surfacing and repaving/resurfacing the whole bridge. There are services in both pavements. No joints are to be replaced as part of the works. Some improvements to drainage and sealing of ducts will be carried out to reduce leakage through the structure. There are 24 bearings located in the north and south abutments of the bridge, which are to be removed and replaced. The abutments are controlled as confined spaces, and the working area in the north abutment in particular is restricted. The restrictions around working in these areas (including recent installation of floodlights on the outer face of the south abutment) mean that a site visit prior to tendering is essential.
