Tender description

The Authority requires measurement data for annual average NO2 roadside concentrations for major urban roads with relevant public exposure across the UK, to be delivered through a new national NO2 monitoring network. The primary aim of this national supplementary monitoring network is to supplement the current Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) and Pollution Climate Mapping (PCM) model NO2 assessment for roadside locations where the difference between the national and local assessments is greatest so a more accurate local air quality picture can be reported to the European Commission and into the national UK compliance report. This NO2 monitoring network will be owned and managed by the Environment Agency (EA) (the ‘Authority’), who do the same for the other national air quality monitoring networks. Defra will support and work with the Environment Agency to set up this new network. Decommissioning costs for the network must be specified and included in the bid.
