Summary of the work This is a specialist technical development role required to deliver an exceptionally high standard of code in accordance with the DVLA’s business requirements. To undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS). To work on various projects to deliver mandatory legislative changes to the central vehicles system. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 9 months with option to extend for a further 9 months Latest start date Monday 21 January 2019 Maximum Day Rate £600.00 per day inclusive of T&S Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams in the DVLA. What Specialists Work On Required to undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS).The work includes technical analysis,low level design,production and unit testing of code using CA GEN.The work will entail UNIX scripting for data extraction and data management as well as working with complex batch scheduling systems. The specialist will be allocated to specific projects including, but not be limited to, changes to the calculation and collection of vehicles excise duty(VED) and also making other technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions. The requirements and technical solutions will be supported by DVLA’s business analysts and technical architects. Skills & Experience • Provide evidence of development experience (minimum of 10 years) in CA GEN in a UNIX environment. • Provide evidence (minimum 5) year of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database. • Provide evidence (minimum 5 years) of using PL/SQL with Oracle databases. • Provide evidence of UNIX Shell scripting (minimum 3 years). • Provide evidence of batch scheduling in a UNIX environment (minimum 3 years) • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in definition and execution of formal unit tests. Nice to Haves Provide evidence (minimum of 1 year) of GEN development specifically on an AIX (IBM) platform. Work Location DVLA, MORRISTON CAMPUS, LONGVIEW ROAD, MORRISTON, SWANSEA. SA6 7JL Working Arrangments The nature of the work dictates the location. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite. Standard working week/hours to be managed by the Supplier as they see is appropriate. Security Clearance Minimum BPSS clearance is required or individual must be BPSS clearable. Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision.
