Tender description

Currently the NHS Breast Screening Programme only employs female mammographers to carry out breast screening. The role of mammographer in the screening programme is currently exempt from gender equality legislation. However, the screening service is experiencing a shortage of staff and Public Health England wish to explore whether introducing male mammographers to the service would be acceptable to women attending breast screening and whether this would help to alleviate the pressure that the workforce is under.
