Tender description

The Borough Council of Wellingborough is inviting suitably qualified and experienced organisations to tender for the contract to manage and operate the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough. The contract will be formed of a building lease and management contract, thereby transferring the business of the theatre and all its activities to an external party. The council is seeking to negotiate a long-term commitment with a suitable partner. It is looking for an experienced company or organisation that brings prudent business planning as well as artistic vision and innovation to sustain and develop the Castle Theatre as a professional and community theatre and cinema for Wellingborough. The tender process will be undertaken in accordance with the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), Public Contract Regulation 2015 and Borough Council of Wellingborough’s contract procedures rules. Borough Council of Wellingborough (the Council) is seeking proposals that meet the priorities of the council and Castle Theatre both in terms of financial benefit as well as non-financial matters, particularly regarding maximising the potential of the theatre as a community and cultural asset for the people of Wellingborough and the surrounding area. The value of the contract has been calculated based on the current subsidy paid by the Council which is expected to diminish during the contract term and any future management fee payable to the Council. It does not include any potential capital works that might be required.
