Tender description

The Defence General Munitions (DGM) delivery team manage a number of contracts with different providers for the manufacture and supply of the General Munitions (GM) portfolio. The Team is responsible for ensuring that munitions are available, sustainable, safe and reliable for operational and training purposes. Project Abel will identify the optimum acquisition strategy for supplying general munitions in response to the requirements of the UK’s Armed Forces (RN, Army, RAF, JFC) in the 2020s and beyond. The outcome will be a VFM supply chain (or set of supply chains) that the UK’s Armed Forces can confidently rely on for General Munitions that are fit-for-purpose and available in the quantities required for peacetime training, current operations and Defence Strategic Direction (DSD) warfighting scenarios, maximising military capability and reducing cost across the munition lifecycle. An industry day supported by a white paper will be held on 8.8.2019 to allow existing and potential Defence General Munitions suppliers to receive information regarding the Authority’s approved procurement strategy decisions. DE&S will also provide Industry with the opportunity to ask questions in an open forum after which one-to-one sessions can be held if requested.
