The Authority has a requirement for 316(N)-IG austenitic stainless-steel forgings and drop forgings with a unit weight of no more than 10 tonnes. The UK Atomic Energy Authority is a non-departmental government body carrying out research into the potential of nuclear fusion as a future source of energy. The purpose of this notice is therefore to identify the capability and capacity of industry to manufacture 316L(N)-IG austenitic stainless-steel forgings and drop forgings with a weight of no more than 10 tonnes in an as-delivered state for the ITER diagnostics window assemblies. The final supply of this material may be influenced by the response to this PIN. All feedback will be used to inform the subsequent invitation to tender and ensure that the supply of this material fully maximises the engineering capability of both UKAEA and the supplier. The details of the project and manufacturing scope can be found in the technical information document. There includes several market sounding questions to promote discussion.
