Tender description
The service will provide opportunities for independent living for 8 adults aged 18-25 with learning disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and will be based on the site of the former King’s Hotel in Lliswerry, Newport. Working in partnership with Newport City Homes, the Council has developed purpose built flats to provide accommodation and support. The service will focus on promoting and developing people’s confidence and skills to enable them to live independently. Newport City Council are inviting experienced providers to bid for this requirement. As already stated the service will provide opportunities for independent living for 8 adults aged 18-25 with learning disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based on the site of the former King’s Hotel in Lliswerry, Newport. The service will be staffed continuously on a 24-hour basis, with a minimum number of core hours per week provided to meet the needs of the individuals at the service. The amount of support that each individual may require can fluctuate, but in order to maintain a level of stability and consistency throughout the service, a minimum threshold level of 8 hours per week of 1:1 support will be provided to each tenant. Sleep-in facilities will be provided for the support staff working on nights. The contract for this service will commence on 1.1.2020 and will be for a 10 year period that could be extended on an annual basis for a further 3 years subject to review. A supplier event for the service will be held at Serennu Children's Centre, Cwrt Camlas, Newport, NP10 9LY at 11:00 on Monday 15.7.2019. The Council at 10:00 will also be holding a supplier event which may also be of interest for community opportunity services for children with learning disabilities which will include sitting services, outreach provision and group work.
