Tender description

Our research group at The University of Manchester requires a high precision electron beam welding and surface modification instrument. This single unit will be able to undertake welding, joining processes, drilling, material-removing processes, engraving, material modification and refining. The range of applications include, but are not limited to the ability to: join dissimilar metals, join extremely thin materials to thick (10 μm to 10 mm), repair/process components/materials based on refractory alloys (Ti and Zr), additive manufacturing of unique biomedical and MEMS (microelectromechanical systems), hermetic sealing/processing of multi-material systems, joining of metallic components to polymeric/ceramic.
