Tender description

The successful consultant is to survey the existing windows and external doors (where located within window sets)and provide a complete photographic survey of all blocks (excluding Crescent House) to determine how the existing windows are to be either upgraded or replaced to install double glazing and reduce cold bridging, efficient contemporary windows which will achieve listed building consent. The windows should be replaced on a like-for-like basis in terms of appearance and materiality — subject to the necessary requirements of the local planning authority and English Heritage, where applicable, listed building consent — but with improved specifications to meet the current building regulations. In addition to the technical standards, the overall strategy for window refurbishment/replacement to the estate design of the individual units will need to account for more holistic considerations such as: I. Window assemblies; II. External weatherproofing; III. Structural integrity; IV. Treatment of internal finishes; V. Background ventilation; VI. Opening mechanisms.
