Tender description

IMPACT required a Super Computing Capability. The high performance computing facility will be operated, used and administered by Swansea University (SU) in the context of the IMPACT operation. The supercomputing system will be used by multiple users from SU. With the exception of planned and unplanned downtime, the facility will typically be available (with access to both computing capability and data) and in use 24/7 throughout each year of operation. The resulting computer resource should be optimised for the use of numerical analysis tools, such as the ANSYS software suite, Altair Hyperworks, LS Dyna. The Supercomputing system will be located in the University Bay Campus Data Centre, up to 3 server racks will be provided – these are CoolLogic CL20 with C12SC rear doors. This gives a max cooling capacity of 31kW for each cabinet with the 19˚C water supply temperature.
