Technical consultancy services covers the following topics: Lot 1: Investigation Support; Lot 2: Engineering and Policy Support; Lot 3: Modeling, Simulation and Analytics; Lot 4: Safety and Compliance; Lot 5: Specialist Consultancy Services. Technical consultancy services: investigating incidents that may occur on its networks. National Grid undertakes the investigations, though more complex incidents may require technical support to determine the root cause and appropriate action to avoid a reoccurrence. Technical consultancy services: National Grid utilises internal engineering expertise to support its day-to-day operation. Where the expertise does not exist in-house, or the work requirement goes beyond our internal capability to achieve, we will seek support of an engineering or policy nature. The support will assist towards resolution to an operational problem, the development of a strategy or the development of an engineering standard. Technical consultancy services: National Grid Gas and National Grid Metering require specialist network and asset modelling capabilities that are required to support strategy development. National Grid translates the service, risk and cost outcomes specified by the asset owner to create well-justified network and asset strategies. This will inform not only our long-term capital investment plan but also routine interventions that we need to undertake on our assets. Technical consultancy services: National Grid utilises its own internal resources to manage integrity and its compliance to regulations on a day to day basis. In some circumstances, additional resources are required to provide specific quality assurance, safety engineering, environmental and integrity management services where its internal capability and capacity is limited. There is also a need for some activities to be conducted with a degree of independence, which can be a regulatory requirement. Technical consultancy services: National Grid may occasionally require more specialist consulting expertise to provide support on a variety of topics. Requiring a good understanding of our operating model in a regulatory context as well as demonstrable experience advising on the future of gas. This requirement may include strategic consulting, operational management, enterprise risk management and knowledge management.
