Tender description

Support and lead the modernisation of the theatres complex. Prior information notice: — Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Healthcare Partners Ltd, — Theatres and Short Stay Surgical Ward Re-development. This notice is to invite potential commercial partners to engage in a preliminary dialogue with Healthcare Partners Ltd (HPL) on behalf of Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to review options for the re-development of the Trust Operating Theatres complex. Currently there are 13 main theatres (a proportion of which have Laminar Flow), 2 Day Surgery Units and 1 procedure room. The Trust would like to expand to 17 main theatres and upgrade the 2 day surgery theatres and the procedure room. For the Short Stay Ward there are currently 46 beds and RSCH would look to increase capacity. Royal Surrey County Hospital provides the core surgical services expected of an Acute Foundation Trust including: — emergency, — general surgery, — trauma and orthopaedics, — high volume cancer specialities for St Luke’s Cancer Centre, — oncology services for Surrey, West Sussex and NE Hampshire. Royal Surrey County Hospital has an international reputation for minimal access surgery and research/delivery of enhanced recovery practice. The Trust has an aging site that is in need of redevelopment and current demands for capital spend across the organisation are making it increasingly difficult to allocate sufficient funding to ensure that theatres are properly resourced, and importantly remaining at the forefront of technological change. We will be seeking suitable and capable partners to develop a long term relationship to support and lead the modernisation of the Theatre complex. The scope is yet to be fully defined and so we are seeking innovative solutions from the marketplace in the broadest sense. For information: The current resources within theatres are a mix of old/new some of which will require renewal whilst some will only need a refresh. There is also the opportunity to expand the range to future proof growth. These aspects will be considered as part of the scoping exercise. The Trust would like to consider a range of options with a contract length expected to be between 10 and 15 years to allow full modernisation and commitment within the partnership approach. Interested potential partners are invited to speak to Healthcare Partners Ltd in advance of the next stage of the engagement process to discuss current thinking and options by contacting, in the first instance: Julian Gagie, Senior Category Manager julian.gagie@nhs.net 01483 571122 Ext 3011 An expression of interest shown in this market engagement exercise will not automatically entitle the enquirer involvement in any future procurement exercise. The subsequent procurement will be advertised separately And all organisations wishing to participate will need to respond to the Procurement advertisement when published. This is not a pre-selection process. The functionality within the procurement portal is being used to advertise to interested parties; a decision has not yet to be taken as to which route to market will be pursued, other than it will be within the boundaries of current UK/EU Procurement Law.
