Tender description

Haringey Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified experienced and accredited firms to provide within our existing Data Centre a second Server Room. The building housing the Data Centre is an onsite poured reinforced concrete structure, the Data Centre is located in the basement, supported by a 250 KVA diesel generator and a pair of Reilo UPS’s. Primary air-conditioning is via a Freecool®ambient air system with summertime a diabetic cooling, support/backup air-conditioning is provided by the CRAC based system the Freecool® System replaced. There is an FM200 based Fire Detection and Suppression System, a water detection system, video monitoring and an Environmental Monitoring and Alerting System (EMS). The Data Centre is secured within the building using a Paxton based door control system. The Data Centre is secured within the building using a Paxton based door control system. Proposed works. 1) Increase the intake capacity of the Freecool® system by adding a pair of additional Freecool® external filter and cooling units to the existing duct running through the car park floor/server room ceiling. NB: This duct was sized to support twice the current capacity; 2) Convert the ‘Bridge’ area into a second server room, housing 12 server racks, configured as a hot aisle with an additional pair of dummy racks housing cold air feed and filters, using the space below the raised flooring in the new room as the cold air feed: (a) clear the carpet tiles, remove firesafe and relocate breakfast bar; (b) partition the bridge area from the entrance vestibule with a set of double doors, position partition to avoid having to relocate existing fire system panel; (c) provide power via commando tracks and sockets on concrete floor. This will require a total shutdown and power off so will be done outside normal business hours; (d) access existing air-inlet ducting in existing server room and install additional ducting across the roof space into the new server room to provide inlet air to the dummy racks; (e) install standard non-carpet raised computer room flooring, with appropriate number of adjustable aluminium air grille floor tiles; (f) construct the hot aisle, using the ceiling void as the exhaust plenum; (g) provide and install a fire detection and suppression system for the new server room, which if it detects a fire will as well as suppressing any fire; shut off both Freecool® Systems and shut off all power to both server rooms. NB: Must include an externally operated gas removal system for use if the system is triggered; (h) construct a new exhaust duct along the corridor at height, relocate anything that requires relocating, for example lights; (i) either merge with the existing Freecool® System exhaust duct, or construct a new arrangement to take both new and existing systems exhaust air through the blockwork wall above the firedoor; (j) ensure all new environmental systems link into the existing EMS or provide an additional EMS; 3) Convert the storeroom into a small work area with ‘perching’ or standing at the breakfast bar from existing bridge, with environmental control panels and storage of additional gas bottles for the second server room; 4) Support the installation of CCTV and door entry equipment by third parties.
