The provision of Forest Pathology External Technical Services to the Forest Service

Tender description

The Forest Service is a Division of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The Forest Service is responsible for ensuring the development of forestry within Ireland in a manner and to a scale that maximises its contribution to national socio-economic well-being on a sustainable basis that is compatible with the protection of the environment. One of the key objectives of the Forest Service is to ensure compliance with the forestry aspects of the EU Directive on Plant Health. In this regard, the Forest Service is responsible for implementing the forestry aspects of the EU Plant Health Directive, Council Directive 2000/29/EC of 8 May 2000 on protective measures against the introduction into the Community of organisms harmful to plants or plant products and against their spread within the Community. In implementing the EU Plant Health Directive the Forest Service requires ongoing technical support services.
