The Environment Agency’s National Permitting Service is a busy department with over 400 staff across 5 offices delivering a permitting service for the Environment Agency. The service determines environmental permits to support regulation across a range of sectors from householders to major international chemical industries. We are seeking support in the determination of permit applications made under the environmental permitting regulations and the water resources act for our regulated industry sites in waste and installations. This requirement is to source a number of suppliers to provide consultant support to the environment agency’s national permitting service. There are a range of roles required. Approximately 15-20 experienced professionals who are familiar with the permitting process or activities that the environment Agency regulate. 1-4 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) are required to provide technical support to our less experienced NPS staff as well as undertaking permitting activities themselves. There is also a requirement for one or 2 individuals required to support our specialist geoscience technical team as a hydrogeologist or a geotechnical engineer with extensive risk assessment experience. These roles provide specialist technical support to the national permitting service particularly around landfill, as well as leading other national technical projects such as leading on the regulation of closed landfills.
