The Northern Ireland Biobank (NIB), Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology, Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to procure an information management system which will future-proof the administration of the storage, retrieval and distribution of samples, in accordance with regulations as set out by the Human Tissue Act (2004). The information management system must be able to link samples with associated data sets. It must also be able to migrate and manage existing sample data, collected since 2011 and currently managed by a bespoke biobank web application with data stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database. As the NIB database is held in a University environment, any personal or sensitive data (for example the Health and Care Number) must be securely encrypted. The successful company will be responsible for providing a dedicated and secure hosting environment, migrating data from the existing system and ongoing support for the new system.
