Greater Huddersfield & North Kirklees CCGs Termination of Pregnancy Service

Tender description

The aim of this service is to ensure a safe, high quality termination of pregnancy service is available for the residents of Kirklees. The objectives of the new service are to provide a systematic and integrated service that will be equitable across Kirklees which will: • Reduce subsequent unintended pregnancies amongst service users through strong links to core contraception services in the district and emphasis on contraception at all stages of the pathway. • Reduce the numbers of repeat termination of pregnancies among service users. • Ensure a higher standard of clinical treatment and improved outcomes, through more effective and speedier interventions. • Provide easy access to assessment and follow up procedures carried out by appropriately qualified and trained healthcare professionals. • Enable current national guidance and best practice to be implemented and adhered to. • Ensure/ maintain locally agreed pathways. For service users, this will mean timely assessments and interventions will take place for terminations and there will be local provision available within Kirklees.
