This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is an indication of potential future procurement activity and may be subject to change. This notice makes no commitment to procure any services. This PIN is not part of any pre-qualification or selection process. Following the review into AEP in March 2018, Cornwall Council is now considering options for the future commissioning arrangements of alternative education provision delivered through alternative provision academies. Options for consideration include the following: 1) Demand management and building capacity: — consider making Alternative Education Provision a last resort, only for Permanently Excluded young people, — develop and introduce financial incentives for mainstream schools to provide support to young people themselves and reduce reliance on Alternative Education Provision, — support schools to develop targeted intervention support; 2) Commercial approach: — develop commercial and commissioning capabilities in schools, — develop an outward facing model that can enable schools to engage local employers and third sector organisations to provide inspirational pathways for pupils beyond school.
