Tender description

Based on historical information, we expect the force to spend approximately £86K per annum with Mehler on body armour. This is loosely based on the fact that over a 12 month period the force expects to recruit approximately 108 new police officers. Armour costs approximately £338 per set, which accounts for £36,500. There will also be Specials/PCSO’s but numbers are not as large or easy to predict, and also any replacement sets, although this could double this spend to £73K The number of body armour covers required also varies. Over the last 12 months we have issued 150 covers at £96 per cover which would account for a further £14,400 if issues were similar this year. This would take predicted spend to approximately £87K. There are no additional financial implications at this time. The costs as set out in the report are covered by the body armour reserve budget which currently stands at just under £400K. This budget is topped up each year by £75K.
